Urban Green Spaces

On Saturday 16 January, the Pioneers met as a group for the first time. The intention was to take them on a barge from Islington to Camden and back to Kings Cross. But due to ice, we instead walked from Islington to Kings Cross with architect Juliet Quintero and artist Tom Keeley, stopping to talk about buildings, public spaces, and the character of the area along the way. After lunch at Kings Place, the Pioneers were introduced to the work of the London Wildlife Trust at Camley Street Natural Park, a gem of woodland, wetland, marshes and meadow which flourishes in the midst of a relentlessly urban environment. At the end of the project, the group will meet Tom again to produce a fanzine about Kings Cross.
