On Sunday 26th July,
Today we met David Sparshott. He told us how he started off, who he has worked for, and how illustration works. David is such a nice guy, I really loved his drawings you can tell that he is very creative and passionate just by looking at his artwork. In a way he reminds me of myself just that... his a guy, and in the drawing world. David inspired me and I was looking forward although I must say I am not the best of drawers! We walked around London drawing bridges, the first one was Tower Bridge and the last was Blackfriars bridge. (I can’t remember the names of the rest...oops my bad =P)
When it came to the drawing there was always different task and time set, sometimes we had to draw in detail and other times draw in very little detail but do your best to make your drawing as clear as possible. When he told us to draw with our left hand I was terrified, and the result of my “artwork” was even scarier! As usual I saw the comedy side of it all and wrote; Ciarra aged 5 on the side of that page. There was another time where we had to draw and not look at the paper! I think this exercise was good because you focus on what it is in front of you and also in great detail... but I don’t know how much of that can be shown of my piece of paper, as my pencil started to go over edge of my page! I really enjoyed drawing the skylines because that is one of my favourite views in the city.
Although my feet are killing me, (I have been on the go for 2weeks, and I haven't recovered from my fight test) I have had a wonderful day! We had fun waving to the tour boats underneath the bridges, I found drawing quite relaxing and I know I would never had spent the whole day walking around and just drawing so I want to thank David and Ruby for opening my eyes today.
Thanks guys!
